Idea Napkin No. 1

Who am I?

To get to know how I may pursue the previously identified opportunity concerning health, I must first recognize my strengths and how I may contribute to and execute the pairing of people who want to improve their health with those in need. I like talking to people. Talking to people, but specifically listening to them, is incredible, as there is so much one can learn from others. With that in mind, networking is one of my skills that should help with regards to my business concept. My aspirations with regards to my business concept include successfully meeting philanthropic goals, meaning providing meals to those who need them. If I were to start this business, I would see it as playing an important role in my life, but not a major one. It would be something that I would dedicate time to formulate and start, but not something that I would want to be actively monitoring for the majority of time.

What am I offering to customers?

I'm offering a combination of a product and a service to customers that essentially pairs people who want to improve upon their physical health with people who require assistance with regards to obtaining food. It aims to motivate previously unmotivated individuals to pursue a healthier lifestyle (eating right and regular exercise) by rewarding healthy behavior. This reward is not directly to the user, but rather, it rewards the user by donating meals to those who need them on behalf of the user. This builds a sense of responsibility within the user, also making them feel the benefits of doing good from themselves and others simultaneously.

Who am I offering it to?

My demographic of customers would be people in developed countries, specifically with aims in the United States. They have the means to possess and use smartphones, which are necessary for the use of apps. They would likely be of the younger and middle generations, meaning from young people to middle aged people. While rural areas aren't off limits or excluded by any means, I'd imagine that people in urban or suburban areas would be more drawn to my business concept (the app). With regards to the psychographic characteristics of my customers, they would need to have some sort of philanthropic tendencies or simply like helping others, as that is the main motivating factor in play for my business concept. These individuals must also share a common goal, recognizing the importance of their own physical health as a valuable element within their lives.

Why do they care?

Customers will not necessarily have to pay me money to use my product/service. They could choose to make in-app purchases to improve their experience while using the app and help those on the donating end as well. Other revenue to cover the costs of the donated meals and other functional costs would be brought in through the use of advertisements.

What are my core competencies?

My core competencies are centered on being able to talk to and work with people. This sets me apart from everyone else, as I am willing and able to put in the work and use my resources to bring this business concept to life. I have many friends who are skilled computer programmers (and app developers) that would likely be willing to help me in the process of making this business concept more concrete if I decided I actually wanted to pursue it. Similarly, I have the drive and the connections to market my potential business.

Summary Evaluation

After exploring the above five elements, I believe that most of these elements fit together. My own skills and competencies compliment what I'm offering to customers and who the demographics and psychographics of those customers. Certain aspects of my business concept, however, are weaker than others. While my connections to others with skills related to the execution of the business concept are valuable, it would be more ideal if I shared those skills, as to avoid too much dependence on others.
